Weapon types

Dive into each mode with a main weapon, a sub weapon, and a special. All weapon types from previous games are back, along with a few new ones. Check out a finful of what you’ll be up against!

The Shooter class can fire a steady series of ink at medium range.
Shooters
All-around handy weapons. Useful in many situations and are great for inking turf quickly.
The Roller class has wide weapons that can coat the ground quickly.
Rollers
Coming through! Pushing or flicking one of these around the stage can color the ground quickly. And if someone gets in your way? Splat!
The new bow-like Stringer class excels at medium-to-long range.
Stringers
Weapons like the new Tri-Stringer are excellent for hanging back and inking from afar. While you can fire off a quick blast with these, you’ll want to give them a second to charge up so they can best do their thing.
The new Splatana class can be swung like a sword, launching a blast of ink at short range.
Splatanas
This new weapon class—including stuff like the Splatana Wiper—can be tricky to wield effectively but are spot-on for those who like to ink up close.
Each main weapon comes equipped with a sub weapon.
Sub weapons
Chuck stuff like a Burst Bomb, the new Angle Shooter, and more.
Strategic use of a Special can cause serious headaches for the other team.
Specials
Once you’ve inked enough turf, you can unleash cool abilities that just might turn the tide. You could roll out with the new Crab Tank, or even turn into an ink-cloaked acrobat and sling your stretchy arms to zip around the battlefield with the new Zipcaster.

You’ll also then be able to save your customized gear, weapons, and settings to your amiibo figure. Handy for making quick gear changes—or playing on someone else's system.
